NOTICE:


>> According to the schedule of preparations for the Conference, paper reviews were supposed to be submitted by 31st May. Nevertheless, the Program Committee accepted reviews up to four to five days later. In this way, more than 85% of the corresponding authors submitted their reviews within the deadline. Unfortunately, a few of those who did not submit are now asking for an extension. Many have valid reasons, and we sympathize with them. However, we had to find other reviewers to ensure that papers were fairly treated, and have to stick to the deadline of 14 June to notify successful authors. For this reason, no further correspondence will be entered into regarding this matter, even though we sympathize with those negatively affected.

Please read these notes before commencing the submission process. 



The African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE) is pleased to invite submissions for the 6th International Conference of African Agricultural Economists 2019. The conference will be in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria, 23 – 26 September 2019.


Submission of Contributed Papers (Oral and Visual)


All Oral and Visual papers will be submitted, reviewed and managed in a single process. At the time of submission, individuals will have the option for their submission to be considered as a poster only. There is no paper only option.


In order to submit your paper, you will need to adhere to the following rules:

  1. All papers must be submitted by noon GMT on 28 April 2019 to conference@aaae-africa.org
  2. Full papers must be submitted in Microsoft (MS) Word and include an abstract of no more than 200 words. Please follow the submission guidelines of the African Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AfJARE) available at http://afjare.org/authors-guide/​.
  3. Papers MUST NOT be more than 8500 words in length, all included.
  4. Papers MUST BE presented by one of their authors, and an author may present only one paper in an Oral Session.
  5. Submitting authors will have to commit to the following:
  • That their work adheres to the strictest ethical standards. This includes a commitment that the paper does not cite articles published in predatory journals. If your paper is under consideration for publication in another Journal, please feel free to submit it, you will not be penalised.
  • That they will review up to three other papers.
  • That the presenting author is, or will become, a member of AAAE
  • That the presenting author will pay the registration fee before final acceptance of the paper.


Review process and results

The allocation of papers for review will be completed by late April 2019. Reviewers will be expected to submit their reviews by 23 May 2019.


The review process will result in submitted papers being;

(1) Accepted for Oral presentation,

(2) Accepted for Visual (poster) presentation, or

(3) Rejected


The result of the review process will be circulated by 14 June 2019.

SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS FOR ORGANIZED SYMPOSIA


Proposals for Organised Symposia will be considered at the same time as Contributed Papers. Expressions of interest to organise such a session should consist of a 2-page (maximum) proposal, and should include the following:


  1. All proposals must be submitted by noon GMT on 28 April 2019.
  2. A short title that clearly describes the theme of the session.
  3. Full contact information for the organiser.
  4. A brief statement of motivation for the session, including the potential audience.
  5. A description of the proposed format of presentation. Proposals for sessions that will use innovative formats are especially welcome.
  6. Names, contact information, and short bios of the proposed session participants.


Proposals may include presentations that explore different, complementary aspects of a particular topic. Proposals that involve discussants with different points of view will be of particular interest, as are proposals that involve serious analysis of new, exciting and important topics. 


The selection committee's review will result in a proposal being (1) accepted, or (2) rejected. The selection committee will reject proposals for which all the proposed participants fail to confirm their intent to participate. Acceptance of an Organized Session for the conference program is contingent on all participants in the session being registered for conference participation and being members of the AAAE. The result of the selection process will be circulated by 6 June 2019. 


  • Please note also that no member of the Association will be allowed to participate in more than two Organized Sessions.
